Meeting Minutes conducted on Jan 5th, 7:00 @ the United Way Bldg

1909 The meeting is called to order with 29 members present.

Officer of the Day secures the meeting room.

Commander Post the Colors.

Chaplain has Opening Prayer.

 Commander leads Pledge of Allegiance to The Flag; we recite The Preamble of VFW; Adjutant conducts roll call of officers, with all present.

Post welcomes one new member (Trey Brown); 

 Minutes of previous meeting are read and corrected to read Quartermaster purchased one $5000 one-year CD and one $5000 two-year CD, Quartermaster report is read, verified, and accepted. Post received a Christmas card from Manna House, Post received a letter from Edward Jones verifying VFW e-mails. 

The Service Officer read his report on problems he has been working on with Veterans.

 The Voice of Democracy and Patriots Pen awards will be presented on 1 Feb. at 2:00 in the board room of The Effingham County Board of Education Office on Ash Street in Springfield. 

We have eight Police-Firefighter-First responder and Sheriff's department awards.

 The District meeting will be 28 Jan in Hawkinsville, Ga. depart from Rincon Wal-Mart at 08:00 hrs. Three members and one Auxiliary member will attend.

 We need a headcount of those attending  The Post Banquet on 4 Feb for Quartermaster to turn in, The District Commander and State Commander are invited.

 Post will hold a recruiting event at TCS on 7 Jan. at 08:30.

 The Gun Show will be held on 25 and 26 Feb. at The Cottonwood Suites in Pooler, time will be from 09:00 hrs to 17:00 hrs Sat and 10:00 hrs to 16:00 hrs Sun.

 The Historic Effingham Society is sponsoring a Vietnam Vet appreciation Dinner at The Ebenezer Retreat Center on 11 Feb. more info will be sent by e-mail.

  Habitat for Humanity needs volunteers on Saturdays to help with their projects all help will be appreciated;  they are working on building a house in Guyton.

  MLK Breakfast will be on 16 Jan at The Rec. Dept. on Hwy 119 at 07:30,  The MLK parade will meet at Madison and Oak Streets in Springfield 09:00hrs;  anyone that pays dues in January/ Feb meeting will get $10.00 off.

  Comrade Morgan's wife is at Emory University Hospital for surgery, keep them in your prayers.

  Lenny D. is our Post Volunteer of the Year and has been invited to attend a banquet at The Ebenezer Retreat Center on 26 Jan.

  Chaplain Walker read a poem that was presented to The Post by a Tiny Homes Project Vet.

  Comrade Angie gave a report on an Army buddy of hers that was having a heart transplant, keep her in your prayers.

 Comrade Cheeley's wife passed away on 30 Dec. he will donate the money the Post gave him between two charities of their choice.

  Chaplain has Closing Prayer; Commander retires The Colors; the winner of fifty-fifty drawing was Comrade Edwin Gaines;
