Marcus John Smith, 99 of Rincon formerly of Boynton Beach, Florida passed away peacefully at his home Saturday morning, July 9, 2022.
He was born Feb. 23, 1923, in Easton, Pennsylvania to Violet and George Smith. He graduated from Hackettstown High School in 1942. He proudly served his country in World War II as a staff sergeant, 3rd Armored Division - "Spearhead." Upon his return he married Martha Everitt on June 24, 1946. He then went on to earn a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Steven's Institute of Technology. He was employed with Unisys, previously known as Sperry Univac and Remington Rand, until his retirement in 1984.
He enjoyed working on the computer, swimming, playing cards and bike riding. He also loved to travel with his wife of 75 years, visiting all 50 states and 47 countries.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rincon and a former member of Lake Osborne Presbyterian Church, Lake Worth, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Smith; his son, Glenn Smith; his brothers, Carl, Ralph and George; his sisters, Kathryn Brugler and Rachel Bellingrath; and his parents.
He is survived by his three daughters, Marcia (Doug) McCoy, Gail Krueger and Maureen (Craig) Cashman; his daughter-in-law, Susan Smith; along with 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date at his family's burial site in New Jersey.
